Second Public Hearing Notice

 

The Town of Pomona Park plans to apply to FloridaCommerce for an FFY 2025 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) of $1,619,450 in the Neighborhood Revitalization category. The activities, dollar amounts and estimated percentage of benefit to low- and moderate-income persons are as follows:

This project proposes to upgrade the existing fire protection system on the same site. This will serve two functions. First it will effectively double the capacity of the protection system. Second it will provide redundancy to all critical systems, but not including the transmission system. The existing system is 30 years into an effective lifespan of 40 years. The major components proposed to be constructed under this project are as follows:

 

  • 30,000 gallon Ground Storage Tank (GST)
  • 2,0000 gallon Hydrotank
  • 50 HP High Service Pump
  • 100kw Generator
  • Yard Piping
  • Electrical Services

 

All Equipment sizing is preliminary and subject to final design. This project will have townwide benefits.

 

The Town of Pomona Park does not expect that anyone will be permanently displaced as a result of CDBG-funded activities. If any persons are displaced as a result of the planned activities, the Town of Pomona Park will assist them as described in the Town’s anti-displacement and relocation policy, which is available for review at Town Hall.

 

A public hearing to provide citizens an opportunity to comment on the application will be held at Town Hall, 1775 Hwy 17 S, Pomona Park, Florida 32181, on April 27, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. A draft copy of the application will also be available for review during normal business hours at Town Hall by noon on April 27, 2026. Persons wanting to submit written comments on the application should send them to Town Clerk Andrea Almeida at (386) 649-4902 or by email at townclerk@pomonapark.com no later than April 27, 2026.

 

A copy of the final application will be available for review at Town Hall no later than May 1, 2026. The application will be submitted to FloridaCommerce on or before May 5, 2026. The public hearing is being conducted in a handicapped accessible location. The Town’s application includes: Construction of approximately 900 LF of concrete sidewalk along Broward Avenue (from Main Street to Beach Park) including ADA ramps, mats and striping; Renovation of existing bathroom structure including fixtures, stall dividers, floor drain, painting; Construction of approximately 600 SF open picnic shelter with light; Construction of adult exercise stations, exercise trail and parking lot striping; and Replacement of fixtures at community center bathrooms.
