Town of Pomona Park, Florida
Rebuild Florida 2023 and 2024 Storms
Infrastructure Repair Program (IRP)
Public Hearing & Public Comment Notice
The Town of Pomona Park is soliciting public input on its intent to apply for funding under the Rebuild Florida 2023 and 2024 Storms Infrastructure Repair Program, administered by FloridaCommerce’s Office of Long-Term Resiliency (OLTR).
Project Title: Permanent Generators and Fire Suppression System Improvements
Project Description: The Town proposes to (1) install permanent diesel-fueled standby generators with automatic transfer switches (ATS) at two critical facilities/infrastructure locations—Town Hall (1775 US Highway 17 S.) and the Town’s fire suppression system site (108 Worcester Road)—and (2) construct fire suppression system improvements that expand capacity and provide redundancy where none currently exists. Work includes reinforced concrete pads, ATS, electrical and SCADA integration, and site security; generators will be anchored and wind-rated. The fire suppression scope mirrors the existing system and includes a new 30,000-gallon ground storage tank, 2,000-gallon hydropneumatic tank, 50-HP high-service pump, associated yard piping, and electrical services.
Benefit/National Objective: The activity qualifies under both the Low- and Moderate-Income (LMI) and Urgent Need national objectives. Beneficiary survey data confirm that 83.28% of residents are LMI, ensuring compliance with HUD’s requirement that at least 70% of program expenditures benefit LMI households. The project will protect public health, improve resilience, and ensure continuity of essential services for the entire community.
Funding Request: $1,551,500 in federal CDBG-DR funds through the Rebuild Florida 2023 and 2024 Storms Infrastructure Repair Program, to include $1,228,000 in budgeted Construction line-item costs; $246,000 in budgeted Engineering line-item costs; and $77,500 in budgeted Administration line-item costs.
