First Public Hearing Notice

 

The Town of Pomona Park is considering applying to FloridaCommerce for an FFY 2025 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The Town is eligible to apply for a maximum of $3 million in CDBG funding in the Neighborhood Revitalization, Commercial Revitalization, and Housing Rehabilitation categories, and a maximum of $4.5 million in CDBG funding in the Economic Development category. Construction activities funded through the CDBG Program must meet one of the following National Objectives:

 

1. Provide benefit to low- and moderate-income persons;

2. Prevent or eliminate slum or blight conditions; or

3. Meet a need of recent origin having a particular urgency.

 

The types of activities that CDBG funds may be used for include constructing stormwater ponds, paving roads and sidewalks, installing sewer and water lines, building a community center or park, making improvements to a sewage treatment plant, and rehabilitating low-income homes. Additional information regarding the range of activities that could be funded will be provided at the public hearing.

 

In developing a CDBG application, the Town of Pomona Park must plan to minimize displacement of persons as a result of the activities. In addition, the Town of Pomona Park is required to develop a plan to assist displaced persons.

 

A Citizen Advisory Task Force (CATF) Meeting will be held on April 20, 2026, at 5:00 PM at 1775 Hwy 17 S, Pomona Park, Florida 32181, to discuss community needs and make project recommendations for Town Council consideration.

 

A public hearing to obtain citizen input on community development needs and to discuss the proposed application, eligible activities, and potential use of CDBG funds will be held at Town Hall, 1775 Hwy 17 S, Pomona Park, Florida 32181, on April 20, 2026, at 6:00 PM. The public hearing is being conducted in a handicapped accessible location. A Fair Housing Workshop for the public, property owners, housing professionals and local officials to receive information and training materials covering local, state, and federal Fair Housing laws will be conducted at 1775 Hwy 17 S, Pomona Park, Florida 32181, immediately following the Public Hearing.
